Table Plan

There are no strict rules governing table plans and your venue should determine the options available to you but here is some basic information to help you think about your seating arrangements for your table plan.

Round tables:
5’ round table seats 8-10 guests
5’6” round table sits 8-11 guests
6’ round table sits 10-12 guests

Top table traditional seating plan:

chief
bridesmaid
father of
the groom
mother of
the bride
groom
bride
father of
the bride
mother of
the groom
best man

However, it is getting more common to see round family tables or bride and groom seated on a table with their friends. It is a matter of personal choice.

When you come to planning the tables, draw your room marking all exits, an area to cut the cake, an area for speeches if necessary and you may want the photographer to have room to move between tables and take photos.  Then cut out a piece of paper to represent each table and start allocating places to your guests. Post-it notes are a helpful aid to this task! Good luck…
